Not all crowns are cast in metal. Some are cultivated with patience, gathered with discernment, and composed by hand into a fleeting monument of grace.

Selected for the March issue of @marylandleaf this cover offers a portrait of feminine artistry in full bloom, where cannabis flower meets botanical sculpture with quiet authority.

In honor of Maryland Leaf’s “The Flower Issue” model Amy LaRoche @larocheapproach wears a custom-made headdress of purple-hued cannabis colas and blossoms, paired with white Phalaenopsis orchids and white Anthuriums, conceived by the highly creative and amazing #sandiego artist Leslie K. Monroy @bunnyfoofee!

There is a certain poetry in cycles. Much like the cannabis plant itself, this cover marks a full-circle moment for @8thdaycreate. In 2018, we designed the Maryland Leaf logo and developed the publication layout system the magazine continues to use today. Across our history of creating covers across the landscape of cannabis publications, this is the first to feature our photography alone, rather than a graphic composition. In this post I also share a few photos from the shoot as well as some behind the scenes action.

Highest of respects is due to @marylandleaf State Director @errlywyatt for inviting and allowing this collaboration to bloom. Much appreciation as well to longtime fellow cannabis creative Daniel Berman @bermanphotos for assembling the final cover design. 🌳🔥😶🌫️💨
