“Thank God the autumn winds did not destroy your garden fair; the Cypress, Rose, and Jasmine still are blooming safely there.
Far be the Evil Eye! For your high star and fortune true,
have brought you back from wandering, to start your life anew.”
– Hafiz
In honor of the new year arriving on this first day of Spring, I am pleased to share this portrait series of my sisters from #Afghanistan, Jamila and Zainab, dear friends of my family whose presence carries both grace and quiet strength. Their traditional Afghan dresses are extraordinary in their beauty, alive with color, heritage, and meaning.

As my creative path continues to widen from design into #photography, I have come to see the camera as another instrument of reverence. This particular session held deep significance for all involved. During their journey from Afghanistan to America, precious family photographs were lost. This shoot became an opportunity to offer something restorative through image-making. Not simply new photographs but portraits made with care, respect, and dignity for them and their family to cherish.

For this #Eid and #Nowruz season, my wish reflects my sentiments and prayers after ever daily sitting of Vipassana Meditation; May all beings, in every direction and every realm, be met with peace and harmony. May we honor one another beautifully and with universal kindness. May creativity remain one of the sacred ways we do so.
